You often hear that it’s eight times more effective to market to existing clients, rather than to find new clients. But how do you do that?
Here are the top ten client retention tactics:
1. Newsletters
Both email and postal newsletters are great client retention strategies. Make sure you have permission to send your clients your newsletter. This is the best way to regularly remind your clients that you are here to help. Publish your newsletter articles on your blog as well.
2. Social media
As well as newsletters, social media sites can be used to give your clients bite-sized updates and info. Whether you choose Facebook, Twitter, or LinkedIn depends on which platform/s your clients are using.
You can repurpose small sections of your newsletter articles into social media posts. You can also create audio or video based on your articles.
3. Follow-ups and courtesy calls
After you’ve made a sale, give the client a call to see how they’re getting on, and if they have any questions about your product or service. Very few businesses bother to do this, so it tends to get noticed — and you’ll be regarded as being extremely friendly and professional.
